ISO 45001 success for Kober
Back to news

We recently have had two external auditors from the British Standards Institute (BSI)attend our Kober Foods site, for a three-day deep dive Stage 2 audit into the Management System for Occupational Health & Safety along with the processes that accompany our activities to manage safely.

I am pleased to inform you that the BSI auditors have recommended that Kober be awarded with the certification of compliance to the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standards, with no major or minor non-conformances identified and only three Observations for Improvement (OFI) identified.

This audit was detailed, immersive and informative, and the auditors have provided a lot of positive feedback, including:

  • “The Manual Handling Risk Matrix is best practice – ‘brilliant’ was the term used”
  • “In depth and thorough induction programme”
  • “Psychosocial risks identified –“very rare to see this considered in the programme””
  • “Professional and welcoming security guards”
  • “Comprehensive documented legionella manual”
  • “Really strong systems and robust”
  • “Climate change risk assessment in place”
  • “Managing two auditors”

Fred Friest, Head of Health & Safety, SCS and Audit, said: “This recommendation for Kober to be issued with the 45001 certification is down to every single colleague at Kober, but I would like to call out some colleagues who were involved in the audit and were able to demonstrate compliance and knowledge from their areas of responsibility both verbal and with documentary evidence:

  • Martin Baxter – General Manager
  • Magdalena Swiatlowska – Factory Manager
  • Jill Rimmington & Tony Richards – H&S
  • Michael Philips - Training
  • Martin Collins – Engineering.

“Everyone at Kober should be proud of this result and I hope you all celebrate the success.”

Congratulations to everyone involved in this audit success at Kober, your hard work and efforts demonstrate how you continue to truly live and breathe our Values.
